Foil Embossing

Foil Embossing

Foil embossing has been used for centuries on leather, evident from the many antique books for instance. But with the advancement of technologies, the process has been simplified to the predominant use of heat foil stamping; which is what we use for our leather products.

This process combines heat and pressure to both emboss and apply the foil simultaneously. With a variety of choices between Gold, Copper, and Silver Foil; once the desired foil is selected by the customer alongside their initials or name, we use our embossing stamping machine at 140°C to permanently foil and emboss the leather.

The embossing stamping machine uses a brass stamp with Times New Roman letters that are at a quarter inch in height, this is why we recommend a maximum of 7 characters for a short name or initials on the wallet. The default location for all embossings is the exterior bottom right corner of the wallet. The reason why we don’t offer foil embossing on leather with a high oil or wax content, is that this doesn’t allow the foil to stay on for much longer. Even though we most certainly could do the embossing, and it might even look quite good, but if it wouldn’t last more than a year, then it isn’t fair to offer that to our customers. Hence the limitations on products that we offer foil embossing.

Heat foil stamping is an excellent way to give your leather wallet a beautiful, eye-catching finish. Whether you’re looking to add a personal touch or to make a statement, this method ensures an impressive result with the added bonus of being durable and long lasting.
